Key Facts
EDF Power Solutions North America has signed two 25-year power purchase agreements with NV Energy for Winston Energy, a solar-plus-storage project now under construction in Lyon County, Nevada.
Project details
Winston Energy pairs a 400 MW solar PV facility with a 400 MW/1,600 MWh battery energy storage system. EDF expects the project to reach commercial operation in October 2029, generating roughly 1,110,000 MWh of renewable energy annually, enough to power about 100,000 Nevada homes.
Local impact
Peak construction is expected to employ more than 400 workers, and EDF estimates the project will generate roughly $100 million in local tax revenue over its operating life. The site sits near the planned route of NV Energy's Greenlink North transmission line, a 235-mile, 525 kV line expected to enter service by December 2028.
Track record
Winston Energy will be EDF's fourth solar project to reach commercial operation in Nevada, following its Arrow Canyon project in 2023 and the Switch standalone solar project in 2017.
